Another breakthrough for blogging

About

Going further into SignpostMarv Martins recomendation to look into the floater files for XUI (in regards to VWR-4153), I started looking a bit closer at another problem that I have often. I always run out of room with how much content I can post in my snapshots through the second life viewer interface. This is why most of my posts have very short bits of content of 700 characters (about 140 words).Looking at the floater_postcard.xml file, I found another field (msg_form) that had a maximum length defined at 700. I changed it to 99999 and started up my second life viewer. Using Lorem Ipsum, I was able to test the limit of how many characters I could get away with. I was able to send up to 6,526 characters through the postcard interface. Any more characters would give me errors trying to upload to the asset server.

Unable to upload 0d84e855-d1a3-9b83-a2fa-27dc8b8260b due to the following reason: The server is experiencing unexpected difficulties. Please try again later.

Apparently screenshots sent through the postcard are actually uploaded. Someone might be able to use this to exploit the possability of uploading any image they like for free to the asset servers. I tried setting the texture of a cube to the asset UUID, but got a message that it couldn't find the texture. It makes sense. The message did say it couldn't be uploaded.

So in short, I was able to increase my message size almost 10 times the original limitation. Be prepared to see longer posts, more links, and more text formatting from me for now on.
